Vice - Chairperson

Dr. Roselyn Marandu - Kareithi

Roselyn Marandu-Kareithi, currently serves as Country Director, Kenya, of the Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies (AGGP) and Stakeholder Management Lead, Eastern Africa. She is a development practitioner and strategist who specialized in results-based management. Roselyn is passionate about young people and assisting organizations and communities achieve developmental goals to uplift society. She believes that this is our golden moment to make a significant change!

In mid-2018, Roselyn joined the entrepreneurial sector and was charged with the exciting role of leading the strategic positioning of AGGP in Kenya, identifying and motivating the best fit Talent to work at AGGP, and overseeing implementation of AGGP’s entrepreneurial interventions such as Jasir and Wavumbuzi. Wavumbuzi (a Swahili word which means discoverers, inventors) develops the entrepreneurial mindset and aspiration of secondary/high school learners throughout Kenya. Jasiri (also a Swahili word which means brave, bold) is a high-impact entrepreneurship program that supports value-based entrepreneurs to establish early-stage start-ups, and thereafter to scale and grow. Roselyn is further focused on building and maintaining strategic relationships, and is driven by the numerous ways in which AGGP’s interventions are significantly contributing to creating a more conducive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Eastern Africa.

Prior to that, for 21 years, she worked in the public health sector providing technical assistance to governments, as well as national, regional, and international development organizations operating in Eastern and Southern Africa, Asia and Eurasia. Her greatest joys were in designing and implementing interventions that assisted young people with HIV prevention; and in enhancing the capacity of directors and health care workers to utilize routing health information for decision making! Since 2009, she has been serving as a Board Member, and current is the Vice Chairperson of Partners in Sexual Health (PSH), South Africa, is a youth serving non-profit organisation that provides and advocates for Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights.

Mr. Felix Magaju

Felix is an accomplished Climate-tech programming professional whose has supported over 3000 Climate-tech enterprises with investor readiness & innovative financing (grants and commercial financing) In Eastern Africa. For the last 14 years, Felix has supported the renewable energy/Climate-Tech sectors Eastern and West Africa working with various development programmes funded by The World Bank, Danida, UNDP, USAID, Swiss Embassy-Kenya, UKAid, The EU, Mott foundation, Autodesk foundation, Lemelson foundation & Conrd N. Hilton Foundation. An expert on partnerships development with extensive funding pipeline having awarded grants to over 500 companies within the last 3 years in the climate-tech space in E.A


CPA Isaiah M. Gichana

Isaiah is strategic thinker in social entrepreneurship, SME Coach, and social enterprise builder with bias on renewable energy and climate action. He is the founding team member of the Kenya biogas program registered as Africa Bioenergy Programs Limited in Kenya. This enterprise has stemmed from a public-private partnership program under the Africa Biogas Partnership Program (ABPP). He is a Pro-active and results-oriented Finance expert, with more than 16 years’ experience in all aspects of accounting, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and has solid planning and organizational skills in coordinating projects.  Under The Africa Bioenergy programs Limited, Isaiah supports 147 biogas entrepreneurs in Kenya. These companies have generated over 6000 full-time equivalent job opportunities across Kenya over the last six years and currently, he is leading the MSME component that is building Biogas user hubs across various counties. Isaiah holds an MBA (Finance), B.A(Sociology) CPA(K) and ACCA (Affiliate). I have also undergone the JICA Project for Enhancing Enterprise Competitiveness in the Republic of Kenya, focused on practical support to entrepreneurs.

The future of ASSEK is driven by passionate individuals who sit on the Board of Directors. They are elected by you, our members, to represent them. It is in this spirit that we would like to officially invite eligible members to vie for the following elective positions in the 2024 Board Elections:

  • Vice Chairperson – In the absence of the chairperson, the vice-chairperson assumes the responsibilities of the role, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
  • Treasurer – The Treasurer has the overall responsibility for handling all matters in relation to the funds of the Association and for accounting to the management committee and to the Members for or all receipts and expenditures of the funds of the Association.

In line with the election process, we would like to notify you of the following:

  • The Call for Candidates will be shared on the 26th January 2024. 
  • Board Candidate Eligibility: Be an individual from a paid ASSEK Member organization in good standing for at least the last 3 months. Submit your candidacy between 26th January and 16th February 2024.
  • Voter Eligibility: Be a fully paid-up member and be active for a minimum of two weeks within the membership.  Only fully paid-up ASSEK Members will get a ballot and vote.
  • Voting Duration: All ASSEK members can vote on 15th March 2024 from 6 am to 12pm EAT.

Call for Candidates

26TH JANUARY, 2024.


The strength and agility of an association are derived from its leadership. It is in this spirit that we would like to officially invite you as our members to vie for the following elective positions in the 2024 board elections:

  • Vice Chairperson – In the absence of the chairperson, the vice-chairperson assumes the responsibilities of the role, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
  • Treasurer – The Treasurer has the overall responsibility for handling all matters in relation to the funds of the Association and for accounting to the management committee and to the Members for or all receipts and expenditures of the funds of the Association.

The Elections Subcommittee of the Association in reference to the Constitution recognizes cadres of rights to participate in the 2024 electoral process. These include: –

  • Right to be registered as a member.
  • Right to be registered as a voter.
  • Right to be a candidate and if elected, right to hold any office in the ASSEK Board.


In order to contest for the board positions, the Elections Subcommittee in reference to the Constitution determine that to be a candidate in the 2024 elections these are the requirements and qualifications:

  • The Organization you are representing must have an active ASSEK membership i.e. membership dues paid and in good standing for at least the last 3 months.
  • Be in senior leadership with a minimum of 8 years in executive leadership and driving organizational growth and strategy.
  • Your organization must have approved your candidature for any of the Board of Directors positions. Proof in writing may be required.
  • You must be either a citizen of Kenya or if a non-citizen, you ought to have a residency or have valid working documents. Proof may be required.

How to Submit your Candidacy

If interested in the above available board positions, you are required to send the following documents by 16th February 2024 at 11.59 pm to info@assek.ke with the subject ELECTIONS: RUNNING FOR <POSITION>

  1. Motivation letter
  2. Resume and (if uploaded on an online platform, kindly add download access)
  3. A brief bio (if approved, will be uploaded on the website)
  4. Image of you (for the ASSEK website campaign page)

Your candidature must be approved by receiving an email from info@assek.ke and your candidature announced on the ASSEK website by 2 pm on 21st February 2024. Once approved, all eligible candidates are free to campaign and lobby for votes for the entire campaign period within the stipulated timelines provided by the Election Sub-Committee.

Voter Eligibility and Voting Process

  • Be a paid Member enabler organization. Only ASSEK Members will get a ballot and vote.
  • Check your membership status to be sure by sending an email to members@assek.ke
  • All ASSEK members who have received the unique voting link can vote on the 15th March 2024 from 6 am to 12 noon EAT.

  • Kindly enable email communications to receive the Call for Candidates, reminders, and your unique voting ballot. Your ballot might go to your original email, be caught in the spam folder, or be in the “Updates”, “Promotions”, or “Social tabs”, or if you’ve opted out of email, not sent at all.

We encourage all ASSEK members to actively participate in this process as it strengthens the Governance and Mandate of the Association.
