Mercy Kimalat


Mercy is the founding CEO of the Association of Startup and SMEs Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK) that brings together and represents the interests of 50+ entrepreneur support organizations (ESOs) that support the development and growth of startups and SMEs. She has 8 + years of experience in designing and managing impact driven programs across diverse sectors in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. In the past she has played a vital role in growing brands and fostering collaboration with strategic partners within 8 African countries, European and Middle East markets, who included but were not limited to Government institutions, Regulatory bodies, Fintechs, Technology firms and others.

As a multi-talented and results oriented individual, she has previously held senior roles such as Partnerships  & Communications Manager at Entrepreneurship for Impact Foundation supporting the roll-out of MBA, Incubator & Accelerator programs in 20 African countries; Senior Program Manager at the African Management Institute where she achieved a 15% skill improvement of the trained management staff in over 18 mid-size and large institutions in Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia; Project Manager for the Clinton Health Access Initiative and rolled out an online Health Management System in key hospitals across Kenya as well as developed training programmes to train over 2,000 health workers on how to use online Health Management Systems.

She is passionate about transformative work that will equip leaders and entrepreneurs with the right tools to thrive in all environments, including the current fluid operating environment brought about by the Covid Pandemic. Mercy, previously served on the Board of the Association of Startup and SME Enablers of Kenya (ASSEK) and is an advisor for the Twiva Brands, Cecilia’s H&H, Bottle Logistics East Africa and EcoHoldings.
